How does fingerprint recognition work on a BioLock padlock?

A capacitive fingerprint sensor reads the ridge pattern of an enrolled finger and compares it with stored templates.

BioLock fingerprint padlocks use a capacitive biometric sensor. During enrollment, the user touches the sensor several times so the lock can build a fingerprint template. During unlocking, the new scan is compared with authorized templates stored by the lock.

For better recognition, enroll the same finger from slightly different angles and keep the sensor clean. Adding one finger from each hand can provide a useful backup.
