Why is my fingerprint difficult to recognize when it is wet or very dry?

Water, sweat, dirt, cuts and very dry skin can reduce the fingerprint sensor's ability to read ridge detail.

A wet finger can create a film across the fingerprint sensor, while extremely dry or cracked skin can reduce electrical contact with a capacitive sensor. Wipe the sensor and finger dry, then try again with the full fingertip placed flat on the reader.

If recognition remains inconsistent, moisturize very dry hands lightly and wait until the skin is no longer oily before trying. Re-enroll the finger with several natural angles, register a second finger, and use the supplied backup key or app method where available.
